Terms of Service.
These Terms govern your use of Doing Things — our website at doingthings.club and the curated Sunday gatherings we run in Los Angeles. By applying, RSVPing, or attending, you agree to what's on this page. We've kept it short and in plain English.
1. Who we are
“Doing Things” (“we”, “us”, “our”) refers to the social club operated by Fiat and based in Los Angeles, California. You can reach us at hi@doingthings.club.
2. The service
We curate small group gatherings — usually ten people, on a Sunday — built around a shared activity (flower arranging, paddleboard, golf, painting, jewelry, and so on). Each gathering has a published price that covers our organization fee plus everything you'll do that day (materials, activity costs, one drink). The exact contents of each gathering are described on the plan card before you RSVP.
3. Eligibility
- You must be 18 or older.
- Some gatherings are restricted by audience (e.g., women-only Sundays). Audience restrictions are clearly noted on each plan card.
- You agree to the code of conduct in Section 8 as a condition of attending any gathering.
4. Applications and membership
Joining Doing Things requires an application. We read each one by hand. Decisions are subjective and final — we don't guarantee acceptance, and we may decline applications without stating a specific reason. Accepted members may RSVP to any published gathering they're eligible for, subject to availability and curation.
Acceptance is personal to you. You may not transfer your membership or your seat at a specific gathering to someone else without our written approval.
5. Payment and seats
To RSVP to a gathering, you pay the published price at the time of RSVP through our payment processor (Stripe). Your RSVP is not confirmed until payment succeeds. The number of seats per gathering is fixed and stated on the plan card; once we close RSVPs (five nights before the gathering), the group is curated from the RSVP list.
6. Refunds, credits, and cancellations
Payment is non-refundable. If you are not selected for the curated group, or if you cancel, your payment becomes credit toward a future gathering. Full details are in our Refund Policy.
7. Photo and likeness release
When you apply, we may ask whether you consent to photos taken at gatherings you attend being used in our marketing (website, social media, email, advertising). This is opt-in. If you opt in:
- You grant Doing Things a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use those photos for marketing purposes related to Doing Things.
- You can withdraw consent at any time by emailing hi@doingthings.club. We'll remove the photo from public materials we control within 14 days. Photos already shared by third parties (e.g., reshared on Instagram by another member) are outside our control.
If you don't opt in, we won't use photos of you in marketing. We may still take photos at gatherings (group shots, tablescapes) for internal record-keeping.
8. Code of conduct
At every gathering, members agree to:
- Treat fellow attendees and venue staff with respect. No harassment, discrimination, or aggressive behavior.
- Keep what's shared at the table private to the table. Doing Things is a place to be candid; that depends on mutual trust.
- Follow venue rules and the safety guidance for activities (swimsuits where required, helmets where required, listening to instructors, etc.).
- Not promote, solicit, or sell to other attendees during gatherings.
We may suspend or terminate your membership without refund if you materially violate the code of conduct.
9. Health, safety, and assumption of risk
Some activities (paddleboarding, golf, hiking, etc.) involve inherent physical risk. By attending, you confirm that you are physically able to participate, you assume the risks associated with the activity, and you release Doing Things from liability for injuries or losses arising from those inherent risks, except where caused by our gross negligence or willful misconduct.
If you have allergies, medical conditions, or accessibility needs we should know about, please tell us during the application or by emailing us in advance. We'll do our best to accommodate.
10. Intellectual property
The Doing Things name, logo, and the design of this website are ours. You don't get any rights to them by attending or applying. The content you submit (your application answers, photos you upload) remains yours, but you grant us the right to use it as needed to operate the service and as described in Section 7.
11. Account suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to Doing Things at our discretion, including for code-of-conduct violations or repeated no-shows. You may end your membership at any time by emailing us. Outstanding credits will be honored for any gathering held before they expire, subject to availability and curation.
12. Disclaimers
Doing Things is provided as-is. We don't guarantee any particular outcome from attending — friendships made, dates found, professional opportunities created. Plans can change: venues, activities, weather, and group composition are all subject to change before the gathering. We'll communicate changes as quickly as we can.
13. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Doing Things and its operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising out of your use of our service. Our total liability for any claim related to Doing Things is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.
14. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold Doing Things harmless from third-party claims arising out of your conduct at gatherings or your violation of these Terms.
15. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute arising out of these Terms or your use of Doing Things will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The current version will always be at this URL with an updated “Last updated” date. Material changes will be announced by email to active members. Continued use of Doing Things after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
