Four steps. Most of them are us doing the work.

01

Apply

A short profile — a few photos, your neighborhood, what you'd happily talk about for an hour.

02

Pick a plan

Browse the week's plans. Pick the ones that look good. RSVP and you're in the running.

03

We curate

Real humans build your six. Balance of energy, mix of backgrounds, conversational fit.

04

Show up

24 hours before, you get your group and the spot. Bring yourself. That's the whole job.

Two flavors of plan, so the week has shape.

Thursdays lean social and outgoing. Sundays lean slow and conversational. Pick whichever week needs which.

Thursdays

Night Out

The flirty, post-work, where-is-this-going kind of energy. Drinks, a little adventure, you might end up at a second spot.

Sundays

Day Social

The slow, sunlight-coded, before-the-week-starts kind of energy. Easy plans where conversation has room to wander.

Who's behind this

Doing Things started because we got tired of group chats that never become plans — and convinced that cities are mostly full of interesting strangers waiting for someone to do the actual work of making the plan.

So we do it. We read every application, by hand. We pick the spots, we pick the six, we send the calendar invite. The point isn't to scale fast — the point is to get curation right from the first six, and then the next six, until the answer to “is this going to be good?” becomes obvious.

Things people ask before their first one.

Is this a dating app?+
No. Groups are usually mixed gender by design, but the point is "have a great hang with five interesting people," not "find your person." If sparks happen, that's a bonus, not the brief.
Why six people?+
Big enough to have energy and survive a cancellation. Small enough that everyone gets to actually talk. Six is the smallest group that still feels like a real hang.
How do you actually pick the group?+
Humans, not an algorithm. We read every application and curate for social balance, energy compatibility, conversational fit, and overall vibe.
What if I get a weird group?+
Tell us. We'd rather know. Every group gets a quick feedback ask after, and that feedback shapes future curations.
How much does it cost?+
Membership pricing is rolling out with the first cohorts — early members get founder pricing. You always cover your own tab at whatever spot you go to.
Do I have to be extroverted?+
Not at all. Some of the best groups are quietly observant people who just enjoy good conversation. The bar is "curious and easy to be around."
